Hasit Nanda was born the eldest of twochildrenon September 6th, 1994 in Delhi, India. As a young childof 3, hehad an immediate curiosity for Piano when his kindergartenteachersaw him play the C major scale on a keyboard perfectly witheyesclosed. A few years later, his mother agreed to take Hasit tohisfirst music lesson while he was still in school, at 11years-old, toa well known Vocal teacher, Mrs. Poonam Kishore.While he waslearning Indian Classical Music from Prayag SangeetSamiti, Hasitimmediately developed a passion for the instrumentand soondiscovered he had a natural ability for playing songs byear withoutany kind of notations. By the age of 15, playing pianowas simplynot enough, so he began improvising on simple bollywoodtunes, whicheventually lead into his immense interest inimprovisation for yearsto come. Hasit continued studying vocalsand harmonium with Mrs.Poonam Kishore for a few years. He was alsoguided by his HighSchool's music teachers. Hasit did practice, butwith toy keyboardsborrowed from friends and neighbours. He wouldplay a professionalkeyboard in school, practice with toy keyboardsat home andoccasionally participate in a school competition andwow the judgesthere. However, hectic study schedules kept him awayfrom joiningany piano training institute.Eager to share his abilities and musings with friends, Hasitmaderecordings of himself playing his arrangements of variouspopularhindi and english songs. To gain feedback, he decided topost someof these recordings on the internet. After enjoying thefeedback hereceived on his arrangements, he decided to extend hisonlinemusical presence further. He officially became a partner ofYouTubein July, 2012, under the channel name Hasit Nanda(kittu187).By 2013, his channel had reached over 2 million YouTubeviews,and at one point, was the fourth most viewed channel in themusiccategory on YouTube (Indian Charts).YouTube, undoubtedly, brought him the most fans and is justthebeginning of his online success as a pianist. Although most ofhisvideos feature music from english pop and bollywood, Hasit hasbeenstudying classical piano since the first lesson in April, 2012.Ofall composers, his favorite is Frédéric Chopin for classicalandJohn Williams and Hans Zimmer for Movie Scores..It is his success on YouTube that truly helped Hasit makeadecision to turn his passion for music into a career inmusic.Being able to perform almost any tracks by ear, Hasit’srenditionshave been noticed, shared & praised by Pianists,Composers& DJs like Hardwell, Tiesto, Avicii, Thomas Newson,MartinGarrix, Jay Hardway, Example, Dubba Jonny, AmitabhBhattacharya,Tyrone & Jesse Taylor (New World Sound), ChirantanBhatt,Jarrod Radnich, David Osborne, Madilyn Bailey, AWE, andothers. He says, “I love piano forthefact that it is such a diverse instrument. I can play any styleofmusic. The roaring bass of a Grand Piano and thebrilliantlyhammered keys makes it possible for a Pianist to play ascore in afull orchestral way. No other instrument can do that.
